Armed with your new-found marketing skills, you’re probably itching to get out there and work, right? Well, allow us to help. If you’ve taken our Master Certificate in Internet Marketing program, then you are ready for the next step: the eMarketing externship.
Depending on availability in your home city, counselors will work with you to find a full-time 3-4 week externship. While we do not promise to find you an externship, we can guarantee that we will try hard for you. After your foot’s in the door, it’s up to you to impress the potential employer; which should not be hard if you’ve come this far! Externships often convert into full time careers for graduates and the least we can do is lay down some groundwork.
Things to know about our externship program:
1. It’s entirely optional, but highly recommended. Note that if you want our job placement assistance, we do ask that you complete the externship.
2. The externship is usually not paid (the employer does not pay for it). There are some exceptions, but you should not expect payment for the externship.
3. We do not promise to find an externship with any particular company, or in any particular specialty (such as SEO or PPC or social media). Every potential employer has urgent projects that they are running, and they are likely to ask you to work on them.
4. Some employers are more likely to rotate you in the different marketing sub-departments, while others may not be inclined to do so. While we ask them to give you as much learning time and visibility as possible, it is ultimately at their discretion.
5. In some cases, we may not able to find an externship in your city. This depends on the size and business demographics of your city. Be prepared to travel, if you don’t live in a big city.
An externship may sound daunting, but it is truly a wonderful door-opener and a chance to display competency in a market that every employer is expanding. Grab the opportunity with both hands!
